Alan Skipwith Appointed Chairman of CNI

I am pleased to announce that Te Pumautanga o Te Arawa Trust Chairman, Alan Skipwith, has been elected Chairman of the Central North Island Iwi Holdings Ltd.

This appointment is a significant acknowledgement of Alan's leadership.  Alan said he is humbled and honoured to have been selected by the representatives from the other iwi groups to be responsible for chairing the trust for the benefit of the collective.

Set up in 2009, CNI Iwi Holdings Ltd was established to receive and distribute settlement assets and manage any ongoing revenues, on behalf of iwi groups including Ngai Tuhoe, Ngati Manawa, Ngati Rangitihi, Ngati Tuwharetoa, Ngati Whakaue, Ngati Whare, Raukawa and Te Pumautanga o Te Arawa.  A key responsibility of the trust is to safeguard the land and to ensure it is never put at risk.

Alan acknowledged the high standards set by the outgoing Chairman, Matt Te Pou of Ngai Tuhoe, who has concluded his term on CNI.  He also acknowledged the enormous contribution but untimely passing of Ngaire George, the Deputy Chairperson and representative for Ngati Tuwharetoa.  No reira e te whakaruruhau e Ngaire, moe mai ra.

Piki Thomas

Deputy Chairman

Te Pumautanga o Te Arawa Trust
