Nga Rangatira o Apopo - Business Day 1 May 2014

Introduction

Te Arawa Tangata and Te Arawa Group Holdings Ltd are holding a Rangatahi Business Day on Thursday 1 May 2014. The day will be hosted by the CEO of Te Arawa Group Holdings Ltd in conjunction with Te Arawa Management Ltd and Te Arawa Fisheries.

There are 22 places available. The event is open to rangatahi between the ages of 16 and 19 years of age and who affiliate to one of Te Pumautanga o Te Arawa iwi/hapu. This day will appeal to rangatahi who aspire a career in business and/or have an interest in the Maori economy.

Purpose

Nga Rangatira o Apopo – Business Day will provide rangatahi an opportunity to explore and experience first hand the operational side of our own commercial company, Te Arawa Group Holdings Ltd.  The day will provide insights into the skills and disciplines required for working in a commercial environment.  It will also equip rangatahi with information to make more informed subject choices if they wish to consider a business career.

Rangatahi are not required to bring anything. Food will be provided throughout the day. A willingness to learn is all that is needed.

The day will start at 9.00am sharp and will finish approximately 3.00pm (programme to be confirmed closer to the date).

Participation criteria:

To be eligible for the programme, rangatahi should be affiliated to one of Te Pumautanga o Te Arawa iwi/hapu:

- Te Runanga o Ngati Kearoa Ngati Tuara Trust

- Ngati Uenukukopako Iwi Trust

- Ngati Pikiao Iwi Trust

- Ngati Tarawhai Iwi Trust

- Ngati Rongomai Iwi Trust

- Tuhourangi Tribal Authority

- Ngati Tahu-Ngati Whaoa Runanga Trust

- Ngati Tura/Ngati Te NgakauHapu Trust

- Ngati Te Roro o te Rangi Hapu Trust

- Ngati Tuteniu Hapu Trust

- Ngati Ngararanui Hapu Trust

Be aged between 16 and 19 years of age, exhibit leadership qualities, have an interest in a business career, complete a registration of interest form.

Selection Process

Each Te Pumautanga o Te Arawa affiliated Trust will select two rangatahi each for this programme based on the registrations received.  Te Arawa Tangata will advise the successful candidates by Friday 18 April 2014.
