A person's body has been found today at the base of the cliff in our lake, below the lookout between Rotokakahi and Tikitapu.

Due to the nature of the matter, including the individual being sought by Police in relation to an earlier incident, and the length of time the body had been in the water, the Board was present at the lake and has decided to work alongside forensic specialists to safely and respectfully recover the person.

For this reason, a rahui has been placed over Rotokākahi until further notice.

We ask everyone to respect the rahui and to hold the bereaved whanau in care during this difficult time.
